Like the other erudite scholars of our time, Sheikh Naasiruddeen Al-Albaanee is popular for his strong opposition to the extremism of declaring Muslims infidels over acts of wilful disobedience to the Sharee’ah when not accompanied by inner disbelief in the heart. He maintains that people guilty of such remain Muslims but sinners.
However, describing how easily many of us adjust to evil and accept it today because it is trendy, the Sheikh warns: “But I fear for our people, Muslims, from falling into outright disbelief (major kufr) when their hearts no longer feel any disgust towards an evil act, and that’s because the Prophet says: ‘There is no grain of faith left in the heart beyond that point.'”
The Sheikh went on to cite how usury (interest) and unIslamic dressing are two examples of such evils that Muslims have atuned to so easily that the hearts of many feel no qualms about them any longer, talk less of criticizing them. Beware of little things that can render you a Kaafir just because your heart has accepted them!
